1902 World's Fair and the Olympic Games
In 1904, the first Olympics on US soil and the World’s Fair were held in St. Louis. With over 20 million people visiting the city, these events changed the way St. Louis was perceived nation-wide and added St. Louis to the list of globally recognized cities. The urban form of St. Louis, as we know it today, was influenced by these two world events. The Olympic Game stadium later became the campus for Washington University.
